The operating programme of the Unionbirrai was born from the spontaneous need to defend the unique product that is natural beer produced by caft brewers, potential victim of untrained or unscrupulous entrepeneurs.

Promotes the diffusion of the craft beer culture in Italy Craft beer is a natural product that is whole and is without the addition of chemical additives or preservatives but has a high content of enthusiasm and creativity.
Craft beer is produced by craftsmen only in limited quantities. Around these brewers and this product is a large group of knowledgeable consumers who have a very high regard for craft beer, above all thanks to the high level of transparency in its production processes, for its stimulating variety and its intrinsic nutritional and dietetic qualies.
Among these consumers some are simply enthusiasts, others are beer-tasters, some are writers and journalists, whilst others still are amongst an ever growing number of people who produce beer for themselves at home (homebrewers); however they all have a high level of curiosty and love to deepen their knowledge of what they consume.

Today Unionbirrai is the centre around which this world revolves.

Unionbirrai organises courses, tasting competitions, and promotes craft beer in many different manifestations; updates its members on the news and initiatives in this field, manages a rich internet site, publishes the "Unionbirrai News" magazine every three months and maintains close ties with National and International beer associations.

For professional brewers, microbrewers and brewpubs Unionbirrai provides legal advice, creates and manages centralized purchasing groups for high quality raw materials, organises courses for aspiring entrepeneurs and established brewers, gives visibility to associate's products in manifestations such as "Pianeta Birra" and the "Salone del Gusto".

Unionbirrai is member of European Beer Consumer Union and is twinned with American Brewers Association.
